Prime Diese & Automotive Clip Of The Day 1998 NFMS Ken Measel Mining For Dollars IH 1066 Super Stock. They scattered the block pretty good on this one. It would get repaired in time for the summer tour, but by the end of 1998, this version of MFD would be gone and the alky burner I'll show you tomorrow would replace it. PMS Marketing Clip Of The Day 2007 Dekalb Pull Tom Larson Draggin' Rose MM UB. Open rpm pulling is a big thing in the SWOH/SEIN area as it is in Illinois. One of the more unusual ones out there was this MM. Dirty Hooker Diesel Clip Of The Day 1999 ATPA Grand American Berville, MI Kevin Masterson River Rat JD 6030 Pro Stock. 1999 would get Kevin a 3rd place finish in Grand American points, but no wins. The learning stuck with him though as he would earn his first national championship the very next year. Photos are up from my first visit to Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH and my first time seeing winged sprint cars of any kind. I picked a good one. I will absolutely go see WoO again and visit Attica again. A dominant performance on the evening by Kyle Larson. His car control is way, way up there. More thoughts on it on the next Sidetracked, but for now, click below to check out the action as I saw it from the exit of Turn 2.
Locke Performance Clip Of The Day 1998 NTPA GN Ft. Recovery, OH Dennis Johnson Shagnasty AGCO-Allis SS. Dennis was always a go or blow show. Here it launches like a missile and carries the front way out there before a cough. It wasn't a disaster, but he had to rely on all that already built up ground speed to carry him into the pull-off. The Hook Magazine Clip Of The Day 1997 NTPA GN Ionia, MI John Mann Lady Butterfly. This truck racked up 1 million miles going up and down the road before getting retired to a life of sled dragging. The late 90s was a fun time in the Semi class with a variety of powerplants going at it. None was cooler in my mind than the big Detroits. Prime Diesel & Auto Clip Of The Day 2007 DeKalb Pull Jason O'Brien. I admit, I know next to nothing about the truck or even what class it was running in, but it sure is a nice looking thing. PMS Marketing Clip Of The Day. 1999 ATPA Monroe, MI Grand American Duane Bergman Rambunctious 2. This week's mandatory Allison clip is from 1999 and bit of a wild ride for Duane. It seems that the steering broke after the hard hit and one of the two V12s stopped participating at that point as well. Note the frame twist at the front in the opposite direction. That is a right hand rotation motor. These were paired in the P-38 fighters and would spin in opposite directions to cancel torque. Duane would finish 5th in the 1999 GA modified points. Once of the few Top 5 finishes for an Allison in the last 25 years. Photos are up at the link below from my visit to Wagler Motorsports Park in Lyons, IN for the Diesel World Test Session presented by Smeding Diesel. Ben Shadday's new '63 Vette promod was seen in public for the first time as well as Jeremy Wagler's screw-blown Duramax dragster. At the end of the day, we were treated to promod vs dragster. Good day.
