Friday June 1st was the Season Opener for the Thumb Tractor Pulling Association and boy what an evening it was. With cool (okay, freakin' cold) temps and the threat of rain moving through to the west, there was minor concern that the show wouldn't get in, but it never was truly in doubt. Pulling seasons rarely start with full entry sheets because, despite having 8 months to be ready, things don't always work out that way. Not this year. 85 hooks signed on!!! EIGHTY-FIVE! Better still is that we are hearing about new machines coming on line in a few weeks. There's always concern over the so-called "health" of the sport, but it seems to us like a more concentrated TTPA schedule, with essentially all of the hooks in the Thumb Region, is just the shot in the arm that was needed.
